Coady Trip Arm Setup Guide
The Coady Trip Arm is a complementary product to the Coady Clutch.
The Coady Clutch is completely functional as
a top quality hi-hat drop clutch without the Trip Arm attachement but adding the Coady Trip Arm provides the added freedom of an on-demand hands free drop clutch.
The Coady Clutch holds the top cymbal, locking it to the motion of the foot pedal in normal play. When the player wants to release the Clutch, a simple stick strike to the rim of the Clutch will cause it to drop the top cymbal.
The Trip Arm is designed to release the Clutch in the same way as a stick strike. This allows the player to simply remove their foot from the hi-hat pedal and the top cymbal falls.
When normal operation is required, the player simply steps back on the hi-hat pedal.

Installing the Trip Arm Clamp on your
hi-hat stand.
The Trip Arm Clamp mounts to the hi-hat stand below the bottom cymbal of the hi-hat.
Place the v-groove of both clamp components on either side of the hi-hat stand.
Put the carriage bolts in from the larger front clamp through the smaller back clamp.
Put the washers on the carriage bolts and then wind on the round wing-nuts until snug. These wing-nuts will need to be loose again for vertical adjustment of the Trip Arm once everything is together.

Inserting the Trip Arm into the Trip Arm Clamp.
The Trip Arm Clamp has been designed as the holder and pivot point for the actual Trip Arm that reaches around the cymbals and up to the Coady Clutch.
The lower end of the Trip Arm inserts into the lower hole on the Trip Arm Clamp and is held in place by a magnet.

Left or Right Handed Kit Set-Ups.
The Trip Arm Clamp has been designed to work for left or right handed kit setups.
By installing the clamp one way it works for a left hand setup and by turning it over and mounting it on the hi-hat stand with the other side up, it will work for a right hand setup.

Turning the Trip Arm On and Off.
When the Trip Arm is initially connected to the Trip Arm Clamp, it is in the OFF position. When resting in the OFF position, the manual operation of the Coady Clutch is unhindered.
When the player wants to use the hands free option, the Trip Arm is pulled from the OFF position up to the vertical ON position. It can just as easily be pushed out of play again by rotating the Trip Arm back to the OFF position.

Setting the height of the Trip Arm.
Setting the height of the Trip Arm is critical to the operation of the hands free system.
Once the Trip Arm and clamp have been installed, it is necessary to loosen the wing-nuts on the clamp just enough to be able to adjust the vertical position of the Trip Arm.
The Trip Arm height must be set when the cymbals are in a fully open position. For the Trip Arm to work, the gap between cymbals must be at least 0.5 inches (12 mm ).
With the cymbals fully opened, pull the Trip Arm up to the vertical ON position and slide the Trip Arm and clamp up until the top of the Trip Arm is touching the underside of the rim on the Coady Clutch.
Firmly tighten the clamp wing-nuts to hold the height setting.

Ready, Set, Go.
With the height set correctly, push the Trip Arm into the OFF position long enough to step on the hi-hat pedal to bring the Coady Clutch and top cymbal down.
With the Clutch down, pull the Trip Arm back to the ON position, now sitting above the clutch rim, and it is ready to use.
